Endocrine Disruption in AmphibiansDevelopmental Effects of Ethynylestradiol and Clotrimazole on the Reproductive System
Irina Gyllenhammar at the Uppsala University has in her doctoral thesis investigated how the pharmaceuticals ethinylestradiol and clotrimazole (a fungicide used in eg. schampoo) affect the reproductive system in frogs. The findings indicates that low, environmentally relevant concentrations of etinylestradiol has an effect and cause lowered fertility and sex change in frogs.
